The Millennium Development Goals Report 2010

June 1, 2010

In this sixth edition of the MDG report published annually, a thorough review of the progress made toward reaching the MDGs by 2015 is presented. Sha Zukang, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, writes: “The Millennium Development Goals are still attainable.

The critical question today is how to transform the pace of change from what we have seen over the last decade into dramatically faster progress. The experience of these last ten years offers ample evidence of what works and has provided tools that can help us achieve the MDGs by 2015.” Since 2005, UNICEF has collaborated with the UN Statistics Division in monitoring progress. UNICEF’s Data and Analytics (D&A) Section has provided most of the data, as well as the regional and global analysis for MDG 1 (hunger), MDG 4 (child survival), MDG 5 (maternal health), MDG 6 (HIV/AIDS and malaria) and MDG 7 (water and sanitation).
