This publication presents the latest estimates of the number of unregistered children under age 5 and under age 1 in sub-Saharan Africa as well as at the global level and in other regions of the world. In addition, the report also features examples of progress in raising birth registration levels across a selection of countries in the region. It also assesses progress for the region as a whole, as well as within the sub-regions, and presents evidence for the amount of effort needed to ensure that all children in sub-Saharan Africa have a legal identity.
