The future of childhood hangs in the balance if urgent action is not taken to safeguard children’s rights in a changing world. The State of the World’s Children 2024: The Future of Childhood in a Changing World projects how three major global forces – or megatrends – will impact children’s lives by 2050 and beyond. The megatrends – demographic change, climate and environmental crises, and breakthrough technologies – provide key indications of the challenges and opportunities children may face in the future.
The Statistic Compendium presents the most recent key statistics on child survival, development and protection for the world’s countries, areas and regions. It supports UNICEF’s focus on progress and results towards internationally agreed-upon goals and compacts relating to children’s and women’s rights and development.
To facilitate deeper analysis, the data in the Statistical Compendium are also available in Excel format. This provides users with the flexibility to access, analyze and manipulate the data to support research, reporting and decision-making. The files can be downloaded below.
